Edouard DUVAL has the chance to work on a unique and ancestral terroir of the Bar coast, his role is to transcribe this heritage and respect for the living even in your glasses. Our beliefs are strong: respect for the environment, sustainable development, precise work in the vineyard, a desire to let time pass in the cellar and to have as little intervention as possible. It means renouncing ease and striving for excellence.
The Côte des Bar - "bar" meaning "the summit", in Celtic - takes its name from its environment: steep reliefs carved out by the different streams and rivers which crisscross the landscape and run along the Langres plateau. Its clay-limestone subsoil, which is reminiscent of that of neighboring Burgundy, gives Pinot Noir, a major grape variety, aromas and flavors of remarkable richness. The southernmost vineyard of the Champagne appellation extends in an arc: it is the Côte des Bar. Its landscapes are punctuated by an alternation of forests, hillsides and crops, a green and hilly countryside, and a mosaic of geometric plots of vineyard, shaped by winegrowers. This particularity of relief leads to the planting of vines on very steep hillsides.
