BLACK STALLION

Twelve years after his arrival in America, in 1924, Gaspare Indelicato planted a vineyard in Manteca, California. With this he laid the foundation for his eventual success in the California wine business. Since that first vineyard flourished, Gaspare's children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren have honored his legacy by dedicating themselves to his steadfast values of family, hard work and integrity.

To make good wine, a winemaker must have a deep knowledge of each batch of freshly squeezed juice. At Black Stallion, the pursuit of greatness means boots in the vineyard, checking on the growth of the vine and the development of the grapes throughout the year. This means tasting the grapes rather than looking at lab reports to determine the ideal time to pick them. This means harvesting and sorting the fruit by hand. The small scale of Black Stallion Winery means that each batch of grapes arriving at harvest is individually processed and given unique aging to bring out its full potential for excellence.
